We are faced with the youth who are surrounded by selfish pastimes and are exposed to great expectations about career and to a technology-centered world. The problems of this youth are increasing like an avalanche day by day.

While there are great increases in the tendency to violence, depression, anxiety disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, exam anxiety and suicides, there is a gradual shift towards negativity on moral grounds. Unfortunately, we, the adults, who need to guide the youth, cannot provide enough support.

Family which is a global community has come into existence in all societies nearly in all ages in the world. Although its content and form changes, there is no community without families. We can undestand the concept of family if we investigate the basis of the problems such as hunger, wars, cruelties etc. while analyzing world problems. Perhaps it seems assertive, but if we solve the problems within the family, we will have overcome the ones in the world.

Modernity has both caused parents to be tolerable and brought about self-interested individuals by encouraging the person himself to be consecrated. As this egoist approach is adopted by the society, marriages have started to be interrogated.

In this study, the family experiencing concussion has been examined in terms of Spiritual Psychology and solution offers are presented to continue the marriages healthfully.

“Modern psychology has tried to solve human uncertainty for ages depending on absolute scientific researches without applying to ancient religious traditions. Prescription which the psychology of the West regarded human as a unidimensional entity and presented as a result of an opinion that a human would make a progress towards a negative pole has not provided any remedy. Therefore, psychologists embarked on a new quest. At the beginning of the 1900s, while some pioneers in psychology tried to understand people by addressing to spiritual traditions and experiences, modern psychology unfortunately proceeds on its way without taking care of spirituality…”

This book proved that modern human not only exists physically but also needs to be nourished by spiritual psychology. The book called SPIRITUAL PSYCHOLOGY II, written by Mustafa Atak, guides its readers to see something from a different perspective.

Spiritual Psychology or Transpersonal Psychology, as recognized in the West. This ecole of Psychology starting with important names such as Carl Gustave Jung, Abraham Maslow, Karen Horney; subsequently researchers of consciousness such as William James, Charles Tart, KenWilber; supported by the opinions of Muslim scholars such as Mevlana, Muhiddin İbn-i Arabi, will be discussed frequently in the upcoming years.

This book is the first local one in this field. You will see a different perspective of Psychology while reading the Spiritual Psychology, which includes important subjects and is shaped by the contributions of prominent scientists.

In the 1970s, a very interesting process started in American society. Scientists with Nobel prize who gathered in Chicago noticed the course of events and the state of the world during that time and detected telling: “If this situation goes on; that is, if scientific materialism influences the world in this way, it can destroy the whole world”. This is a very interesting anticipation. Humanistic approach which is effective in the field of Psychology has not met the necessity, either. Thus, an inclination to spirituality has become. Then, which spirituality have the psychologists inclined to? Of course, to the Far Eastern spirituality because there has been a huge conflict between Islam and Western World since the crusades. Therefore, the psychologists tried to understand human by enlightening from Buddhism, Brahmanism, Taoism and Hinduism instead of Islam and Sufism, and they achieved this partially.

The psychology ecole mentioned here is the ecole of “Self beyond psychology”, “Spiritual Pyschology” or “Transpersonal psychology”. The reason why transpersonal psychology is insufficient to understand human is only to inspire from both Far Eastern spirituality and a little from Shamanism, but not to take care of Islam and Sufism. For this reason, this kind of psychology has been unable to find a steady base. Nevertheless, the importance of spiritual psychology starting with the pioneers of psychology such as Freud, Jung Maslow; subsequently researchers of consciousness such as W. James, Charles Tart, Ken Wilber; supported by the opinions of Muslim scholars such as Mevlana, Muhiddin İbn-i Arabi, seems to increase more in the next period under the guidance of Mustafa MERTER.
